Archelon Research Foundation

To advance marine conservation by way of rigorous sea turtle research, charming yet educational outreach, and international scientific communication befitting a truly global ocean.

A very serious mission, executed with delightful seriousness.

Volunteer

A Notice from the Desk of Volunteer Affairs

At present, the Archelon Research Foundation operates entirely through the noble efforts of devoted volunteers —
spirited individuals who have elected to lend their time, talent, and tidy handwriting to the cause of sea turtle conservation.

As a fledgling institution with grand ambitions and a rather lengthy to-do list,
we find ourselves in need of additional capable hands, curious minds, and enthusiastic hearts.

Until the day arrives when our humble offices may boast full-time and part-time staff,
we proudly — and gratefully — rely upon the generosity of volunteers.

We seek individuals gifted in a variety of disciplines:
social media scribes, illustrators of fine character, literary enthusiasts, data sleuths, spreadsheet romantics, and other talented allies.

Citizen Scientist

A Brief Treatise on Community Conservation

We hold, quite firmly and with considerable enthusiasm, that true conservation flourishes when the entire community is invited to participate. After all, the safeguarding of sea turtles is far too grand and noble a task to be left solely to those in possession of official permits, latex gloves, and government-issued clipboards.

While the delicate handling of threatened and endangered sea turtles must — by law and good sense — remain in the capable hands of specially trained specialists,
there exists a splendid opportunity for citizen naturalists, ocean romantics, snorkelers, divers, and shoreline wanderers to contribute meaningfully.

You may not cradle a hatchling, but you can help chronicle its story.

By assisting with observations, submitting photographs, and helping collect valuable field records, you add data to long-term scientific efforts that stretch across oceans and decades.

Partnership

On the Matter of Noble Alliances

In addition to our cherished community of citizen naturalists,
we aspire to cultivate a robust and harmonious network of fellow marine conservation organizations —
for even the most stout-hearted sea turtle defenders occasionally find themselves
outnumbered by paperwork, deadlines, and the infinite to-do list required to save the world.

Many admirable conservation groups toil valiantly,
armed with passion and purpose but sometimes lacking in hours, hands, or funding.
It is our conviction that such noble missions flourish best not in isolation, but in good company.

Thus, the Archelon Research Foundation seeks fellow stewards of the sea
with whom we may share resources, join forces, and embark upon joint endeavors —
be it through financial support, data wizardry, volunteer hours, or other valuable contributions —
all toward the protection of our beloved marine ecosystems.
